Srinagar, April 08 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Monday remembered religious cleric Showkat Ahmad Shah on his anniversary and said that personalities like him are born in centuries. “Today when our enemies are hell bent upon to divide us into factions and sects, that too in the name of democracy and elections, we need a religious and social leader like him who can bridge gaps and unite us into one Ummah,” acting chairman of JKLF Abdul Hameed Butt said as per a statement issued to KNO while recalling the struggle and sacrifices of Shah. Terming the participation in elections as ‘disrespect to martyrs’ like Showkat Shah, JKLF leader said that “the charismatic and multi-dimensional personality of Shaheed-Itehad-I-Millat Moulana Showkat is so cherished that no Kashmiri can ever ignore his sacrifices humility, wisdom, struggle and sacrifices rendered for unifying our divided nation and society.” “Shah’s struggle for freedom and efforts to eradicate sectarianism from Jammu Kashmir will be always remembered. Moulana Showkat worked continuously for the cause of freedom of this subjugated nation and his efforts to unite our struggling society, promoting and upholding Quran and Sunnah and connecting new generations with these two main sources, his philanthropy, his works in the field of education and social work, his dream of an Islamic University that can stop brain and economy draining from Kashmir, establishing free or nonprofit based heath care centers and above all his quality leadership is witness to his incomparable personality and persona,” he said. JKLF acting chairman said that Showkat worked day in and day out for the cause of unity among the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir and today “when our enemies are hell bent upon to divide us into factions and sects that too in the name of elections to get votes, we need a religious and social leader like him who can bridge gaps and unite Muslims into one Ummah and lead them to liberty and freedom.” “Jamiat-e-Ahlihadees (JK) of which martyr was president for many years touched new highest of success in his era but his absence is more felt by those who did not belong to his sect (Maslak) and this is because he was a symbol of unity and humbleness for all,” he said. He said that freedom struggle of Kashmir is indebted to martyrs like Moulana Showkat Ahmad shah and today “when we remember this great soul, we pledge to take the mission of these martyrs to its desired goal.” Appealing people to boycott upcoming elections, JKLF acting chairman said that taking in these elections is like disrespecting great martyrs like Showkat Ahmad Shah which no Kashmiri can even think of. Terming the strong brotherly relationship between Shah and incarcerated JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik as ‘undying’, JKLF acting chairman said that this union was for a righteous cause and that is why despite tremendous pressures and opposition, Shaheed-e-Itehad-e-Millat refused to divide that valued association till his last breath. “JKLF cherishes that pious association and will never forget the valued sacrifices rendered by martyr Showkat,” added JKLF acting chairman. While praying for the elevation of place in Jannah for Showkat, JKLF leader also prayed for freedom and liberty of Kashmiri nation.(KNO)
